Yard Dog
A yard dog competition is a popular event in rural and agricultural communities where working dogs showcase their skills in herding and managing livestock, typically sheep. These competitions are designed to test a dog's ability to maneuver livestock through a series of obstacles and tasks, simulating the work they would do on a farm.

Yard dog competitions are a highlight at many agricultural shows, including the Queanbeyan Show, showcasing the incredible skill and teamwork between dogs and their handlers.
Pavilion
Pavilions serve as central hubs for visitors to explore a wide range of items, typically representing the best of the region's agricultural, artistic, and culinary talents.

​Pavilions are a key part of the agricultural show experience, providing a space where the community can come together to celebrate its achievements, share knowledge, and enjoy the diverse talents of its members.
Young Woman
The Young Woman competition, formerly known as the Showgirl competition, is a longstanding tradition at agricultural shows across Australia. It celebrates the talents, knowledge, and contributions of young women in rural communities, with a focus on leadership, community involvement, and agricultural awareness.

YOUNG WOMAN & TEEN COMPETITION
The Young Woman & Teen Competition will be judged from 6pm, on 11 October 2024 at The Carrington Inn, Bungendore.  This is an evening to judge the Young Women entrants from the Queanbeyan, Bungendore & Braidwood Show Societies!  

Young Woman 18 - 25yrs
Teen 13 - 17yrs

QUEANBEYAN TINY TOT & JUNIOR COMPETITION
Judging for The Queanbeyan Show Society Junior & Tiny Tots will be held under the grandstand at The Queanbeyan Showground, Glebe Ave, Queanbeyan from 4:30pm, 7 October 2024.

Tiny Tot 3 - 6yrs
Junior 7 - 12yrs

BRAIDWOOD JUNIOR & TINY TOT COMPETITION
Judging for the Braidwood Show Society Junior & Tiny Tots will be held closer to the date of the 2025 show.

Mini Goats

Mini goats are a delightful and popular attraction at agricultural shows, drawing in crowds of all ages with their adorable appearance and playful behavior. These small, friendly animals are often featured in various competitions, educational displays, and petting zoos, making them a highlight of the show.
Wood Chop
The wood chop competition is one of the most exciting and traditional events at agricultural shows, drawing in crowds with its display of strength, skill, and precision. It’s a highly competitive and physically demanding sport where participants, often referred to as axemen (and increasingly, axewomen), compete in various chopping events.
Black & Coloured Sheep
Black and colored sheep are a unique and visually striking feature at agricultural shows, often drawing attention for their beautiful and diverse wool. These sheep stand out from the more common white or cream-colored sheep breeds and are prized for both their aesthetic appeal and the quality of their fleece.
Horses - Ring Events
Horse ring events are a central feature at many agricultural shows, showcasing the beauty, athleticism, and versatility of horses and their riders. These events range from traditional equestrian disciplines to more specialized or fun competitions, drawing participants and spectators who appreciate the skill and partnership between horse and rider.
Horses - Show Jumping
Horse show jumping is one of the most thrilling and popular events at agricultural shows, captivating audiences with its combination of speed, precision, and athleticism. It’s a test of both the horse’s jumping ability and the rider’s skill in navigating a challenging course of obstacles.

Poultry

A poultry show at an agricultural show is a competition where various breeds of chickens, ducks, turkeys, and other poultry are displayed and judged. These events are a popular feature of agricultural shows, highlighting the diversity and quality of poultry breeds.

Beef Cattle

For the first time in many years, we are thrilled to announce a special Cattle Demonstration Day on Saturday, September 9th, followed by a Cattle Competition on Sunday, September 10th!  This event promises to be a fantastic showcase of top-quality livestock, offering a unique opportunity to see and learn about different cattle breeds, care techniques, and breeding practices.

Dog High Jump

The dog high jump is a popular event at many agricultural shows, and it’s always a crowd favorite! In this thrilling competition, dogs are challenged to leap over increasingly higher hurdles, showcasing their agility and athleticism. The event usually starts with a low height, and the bar is raised incrementally after each successful jump. The aim is for the dog to clear the highest possible jump without knocking the bar off.
